I drive a 2013 Focus 1.6 TDCi with 30k on the clock which is mechanically sound. Though I enjoy a solid 54mpg in mixed driving and expect at least 10mpg less from a petrol engine, my mileage and concerns about reliability are pushing me towards petrol for our next car. My question is how reliable are the 1.0 Ecoboost engines Ford are producing and do you agree this is a better bet than the 1.5

Thanks to its Continental turbo that helps deliver the engine's full 148 pound-feet of torque from just 1,400 rpm, the 1.0-liter EcoBoost behaves like a much larger unit ā in fact, its power
The MHEV was phased into the Fiesta during 2020, though, so you need to be absolutely clear which version you are talking about. The MHEV (125 and 155ps) should have an "Ecoboost hybrid" tailgate badge . The 100ps is still the original wet belt version though. NB: presuming you mean ST-Line, not ST, which is a 1.5.
The Ford Focus may be one of the worldās best selling cars, in the LZ Focus range: a brand-new 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol from the EcoBoost family.

The reported problems associated with the Ford 1.5 EcoBoost 3-cylinder engine, notably the coolant system issues, donāt wholly diminish its overall reliability. Owners who engage in regular maintenance routines and address emerging issues promptly can potentially extend the engineās life significantly.
Car and Driver tested the Fit at 8 seconds 0-60 and 16.2 sec for the 1/4 mile. They also tested the Fiesta 1.0L Ecoboost, which did 0-60 in 8.3 seconds and the 1/4 mile in 16.7. I'm not really sure I believe that the Fit actually makes 127 whp given that it's slower than a Honda Fit to 60.
Well I have only had my Fiesta Zetec S 125ps Ecoboost 1.0 for 3 months & 2400 miles so can't comment on the reliability really. However, It's a cracking little car.
